here for it

This photo was from last spring when he surprised me with a bouquet of flowers and a face covered in chocolate.

He is home from school this week, and starting pre-K on Monday. We have planned a long list of outdoor adventures and as he said, after splashing in the creek with a new friend Audrey, “Mama, that was a good memory.” (Thank you to the movie Inside Out.)

I laid there watching him sleep and breathe deeply last night and felt a sense of urgency. A sense of urgency to pay more attention. To him being little, my parents asleep in the next room, to these adventures and memories we are choosing when we remember we get to choose.

Fresh flowers and chocolate covered faces. Mornings in the creek or playing in nature. Cuddles during an afternoon movie. More, please.
