what is needed now?
How’s 2023 treating you?
I have to say I came into this year pretty fired up, Virgo-style, and it had been a minute since I felt that way. I mean, the last few January 1st’s have been followed by some serious surprises, upsets, mind f*cks.
But this year I’ve come back to the realization that I have choice. There might not be a whole lot of things I can control, like what’s happening in the world or other people’s behavior, but only mine. Once again, I have choice.
Might seem simple but some of the truest things are.
As you can see from above, I’ve settled into my February intentions, most of them echoing January and how I decided to show up.
Words for the month — Action begets action.
And intentions —
Move body with joy every single day. Truly check in and ask - what does my body want to do today? Lately it’s resistance training, slow flow yoga, an almost daily walk outside. And playing with my five year old.
Play outside (even when it’s freezing.) Ice skating, sledding and walking outside, even when it looks like Narnia. Getting a ski date on the calendar very soon.
More deep breaths and tea.
Quality over quantity. (Always in all ways.)
Space for creativity.
What are some of yours?
If this year is rocking you so far, give yourself some space. Nothing drastic needs to change but instead asking yourself “What is needed now?” I repeatedly ask myself that question, all day every day, as a way to access the present moment, to return to being in my body and, once again, to remember I have choice.
And that choice might be saying “no” to every social outing for the next couple weeks and curling up with a book or quite the opposite.
Just ask and then stay still enough to listen.
